Wednesday

Friday

Saturday

Sunday
relaxed run, 1 hour plus

Exercise really helps me to control my blood sugar levels and makes my body more sensitve to the insuln I inject. More exercise equals less insulin. I perform about 8-10 blood sugar tests daily so I know how much insulin to inject and food types/amount to eat.

Diet

Maintaing a low fat, low glycaemic index diet is extremely important in maintaining level blood sugars for a diabetic. My diet consists of 40% carbohydrate from sources such as whole wheat bread, rice, and oatmeal, and 40% from lean proteins such as tuna, egg whites and chicken. My fat sources come from peanut butter and unsaturated oils such as olive oil. I have a cheat day on Sundays when I eat treats like chocolate but also maintain blood sugars by injecting 1 or 2 extra units of insulin.

Exercise with a diabetic allows one the freedom to eat normally without having the consequences of high blood sugars. (**not as straight forward as it may sound**)
